KOMO Foundation

The KOMO Foundation was established in 1962 under the supervision of the Association of Dutch Municipalities and Directors of Public Works. The foundation guarantees that products and processes bearing the KOMO seal of approval have been objectively tested against the relevant statutory requirements and specific, professional market and/or project requirements in the construction and infrastructure sector.

Independent and objective

Quality is only quality when it has been impartially tested! Thus, quality is demonstrable in black and white. Every KOMO-certified product and every construction process that is KOMO-certified has always been objectively examined by independent experts. Only if everything is in order does the product or process receive the KOMO quality mark.

Evidence

The KOMO quality mark is increasingly important also under the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb). With the KOMO certificate, the builder demonstrates that he delivers quality. In the quality assurance process, this means a reduction in costs because the quality assurance contractor has to spend less time on inspections. At the same time, the certificate helps the builder manage his evidence.

Circularity is making its appearance in the industry. This development is expressed in legal and environmental requirements, such as the use of organic raw materials. KOMO is taking steps: assessment lines are being developed, for example, so that convincing evidence can also be provided on this point.

Organization

KOMO is characterized by a balanced input from stakeholders: certificate holders, the certificate holders' customers, certification bodies, industries, designers, prescribers and insurers. They bring together the knowledge needed to realize the quality ambitions. This knowledge leads to the fact that the added value of the KOMO quality mark has been a very widely accepted fact in the building and infrastructure sector for almost 60 years.

KOMO as an organization consists of:

  • The KOMO Supervisory Board.
  • The KOMO Office
  • The KOMO Quality and Review Committee (KKTC).
  • The KOMO Committee of Objections.

In addition, there are the following consultative bodies:

  • The KOMO Strategy Council.
  • KOMO Policy Committee
  • KOMO Licensees
