Doka enjoys worldwide renown for its sophisticated formwork and support solutions, which are used to realize the most iconic projects. But did you know that the system formwork specialist also has an extensive range of modular working platforms? Marco Peters, scaffolding consultant at Doka, talks us through the many possibilities of the versatile Ringlock scaffolding system.
"The Ringlock scaffold is originally a system from the American scaffold manufacturer AT-PAC," Peters begins. "It is a household name in the United States. Doka acquired the company two years ago, so since then we have also been active on the international scaffolding market. The addition of scaffolding to our product range is a logical step, because together with our formwork solutions we now offer a total solution for construction." Peters joined Doka a few months ago, but has a long track record in scaffolding construction. "The intention is to significantly expand Doka's scaffolding portfolio in the Netherlands in the coming years."
Ringlock's scaffolding is modular, allowing the system to be used flexibly and individually as facade scaffolding, reinforcement scaffolding, walkways, stair towers or even as rolling scaffolding. The scaffolds can also be used for support and as suspended scaffolding. "Because of the different dimensions and the forces that can be applied to it, you are much more flexible with the Ringlock scaffolding above a certain height than with standard support systems," Peters explains. "You also build much more safely with a Ringlock scaffold because you always create a handrail. The scaffolding components, such as the ledgers and steel floors, have fixed sizes ranging from 73 to 307 cm and various intermediate standard sizes, such as 207 and 257 cm, which are very common for new construction and renovation.
We further work with different post heights ranging from 50 cm to 3 meters standard with a ring spacing of 50 cm. The floors can be made with steel decking or wood. The Netherlands is a wood country, but we definitely promote the steel decking which is more durable because of safe reuse. In the industry they swear by it and I expect construction to move more and more in that direction as well."
Ringlock convinces with the familiar Doka quality at an attractive value for money, says Peters. "Anyone in need of scaffolding can report to Doka from now on. The scaffolding system is for sale, but we also offer it for rent for a minimum period of one month. In the process, clients are completely relieved of all their concerns right down to the preparation of drawings and calculations, provided that is demanded. This is not necessary for standard configurations. We do not only erect the scaffolding ourselves, but we have contacts with scaffold builders throughout the Netherlands." He explains that a DIBT applies to the scaffolding system. "It is a German seal of approval that guarantees quality, safety and the environment. The Ringlock components may be mixed with other scaffolding systems. So even companies that already have their own scaffolding equipment but need additional scaffolding for a particular job can rent it from us." Thanks to a worldwide network, Doka guarantees reliable and fast delivery. "We have a large amount of material available within a short time if required."
The Ringlock scaffolding system is extremely versatile. Thanks also to the multitude of standard accessories, such as consoles, system lattice girders and folding gates. "We can find an optimum solution for every application," Peters assures us in conclusion. So Doka is now the specialist for formwork and scaffolding.
