Attention to the human side

Concrete specialist keeps an eye on the long term

That the employees of many companies are the most important capital is almost an open door in these times of scarcity. Even in the construction industry, the need for (technically trained) personnel is enormous and companies have to pull out all the stops to find and keep people. This is just as true for BSE Betonwerken and the Ermelo-based company has a very personal approach, Sandor Timmer found.

"I knew Erwin and Nicole Ruiter from BSE from the time when I was working as a project manager for a contractor on a very large job in Utrecht," begins Timmer, who has been working in construction for 35 and as a calculator, work planner and project manager. "There I worked very pleasantly with the people at BSE and built a good relationship with Erwin and Nicole. From that last big job I unfortunately had to drop out for serious health reasons and I ended up on sick leave. During that period of treatment and recovery, Erwin was one of the people who supported me and with whom I kept in touch. During my recovery, I started looking for a new challenge and contacted Erwin and recently I started working part-time for BSE. My job is to use my experience to take the growing organization to the next level, manage work preparation and calculation and supervise people."

Important reasons for Timmer to work for BSE were mainly on the human level. "First of all, Erwin and Nicole are special people that many an organization could take an example from. They pay attention to the human side of the work and are honest, but also businesslike. I suspected this from a distance earlier but now that I am physically present myself, this image is only confirmed. They have an eye for the longer term and are not concerned with short-term gain. You do that by having an eye for the human capital in your company."

Among other things, Timmer is now supervising a new member of the BSE team. "We hired someone who was working in technical wholesale. So he has a technical background, but not a construction engineering mbo or hbo education. We're going to train him as a work planner and also give him the space to raise his profile within our organization. I think this is the best way to get people while keeping the quality of work high."  

BSE Betonwerken is a "total care provider" for the contracting industry, which increasingly needs parties that can take over parts of projects integrally. "That total package includes rebar laying, concrete delivery, laying foundations and floors, realizing concrete walls on site and prefabricated erection and assembly. Setting up a steel structure is no problem for us either. More importantly, we do this at a good price, but above all on time and with the right quality. Having sat on the other side of the table, I know that time and quality are decisive. So I also know that BSE is always there for you and that you can rely on them," concludes the happy new employee of BSE.
