Concrete Association chooses new concept and new location

Concrete Day 2019 on Nov. 14 at Van Nelle Factory

After 25 years in De Doelen, this year's Concrete Day will be held at the Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam on Thursday, November 14. The new location marks the next step in a renewal process that the Concrete Association began in consultation with various stakeholders.

Concrete Day is the event for the concrete industry. With a rich, knowledge-driven lecture program, more than 130 exhibitors and over 2,000 national and international visitors, it offers a unique combination of knowledge, exhibition and networking opportunities. The day itself is communicatively supported on a broad level with its own website, target group-specific newsletters, various channels on social media and a digital knowledge platform. Through this combination, the Betondag's reach and awareness in the market are unprecedented by Dutch standards.

In order to guarantee the strength of Concrete Day for the future as well, the Concrete Association embarked on a renewal drive. In addition to adjusting the content to the exhibitor and visitor groups, a new stand and catering concept was introduced last year. This not only gave the knowledge event a programmatic depth, it also made the exhibition floor more transparent and created more space for networking opportunities. In addition, the registration procedure was modified and the Concrete Day app was introduced. That this innovation would continue was already known; the choice of the Van Nelle Fabriek as the new location fits in well with this.

An extensive selection procedure preceded the choice of the Van Nelle Factory. Maikel Jagroep, director of the Concrete Association commented, "The Concrete Day has been a leading event in the Netherlands for more than 60 years. We want to secure that special position for years to come. As a knowledge and training institute, we realize like no other that innovation is a requirement for survival. We do this every year with our training courses and therefore also with our seminars and conferences. The Concrete Day, as a showpiece for the concrete industry, is a logical first step. With the many innovations and the Van Nelle Factory as a new location, the Concrete Association expects to be able to fulfill its ambitions here for years to come."

The choice of the Van Nelle Factory is appropriate in this regard. The new location is one of the best-known examples of The New Building and New Business Architecture that came into vogue in the 1920s. With piles made of reinforced concrete - a Dutch first at the time - and concrete, steel and glass as the main building materials, it is a fine location for Concrete Day 2019.
