A broad coalition of 61 chain partners in the design, construction and engineering sectors today signed the new digiAkkoord up to 2030. In doing so, they are actively committed to accelerating - necessary - digitization and chain optimization in the coming years. And they warmly invite other parties to also join this agreement.
Acceleration happens with so-called digiDeals: tangible projects about exchanging more data, improving the quality of data, about trust and cooperation throughout the chain. The signing took place during the Ketenstandaard Bouw en Techniek Congres 2023 in Nijkerk, with many of the signatories on stage.
The broad support for this agreement, according to Joseph Kuling, president of the Building Digitization Council (BDR), is related to a great sense of urgency.
"From designers and builders to building managers; All are faced with substantial social and individual tasks. Energy transition, climate adaptation, scaling up residential construction and infra replacement. All this with as few emissions as possible and circular. Everyone has to manage this in their own organization and chain, with increasingly scarce personnel, less time and higher costs. Accelerated digitization and data-driven chain cooperation are then rock-solid preconditions for getting things done together. We are pleased that more and more partners are betting on this."
Roger Tan, member of the BDR and chairman of the board of the digiGO foundation, is pleased with the many signatories:
"In recent years, the platform of the digiGO foundation has become a powerful booster and director of digitization, from and for clients and contractors in our sector. This digiAkkoord leads to new projects and programs to further digitize cooperation in the chain - measurably - as an extension of the current ongoing implementation agenda. We look forward to making this great leap forward with all signatories and realizing the ambitions for 2030, as stated in the digiAkkoord!"
Roeland Allewijn of Rijkswaterstaat adds from the client side: "As RWS, getting and keeping our data and information facilities in order is essential for our asset management. This is a considerable task, because much of our information is produced and updated by the supply chain and continuously exchanged with us digitally. Digitization in the built environment requires good cooperation in the chain, clear agreements, unambiguous standards, and digitally proficient employees. This new digiAkkoord gives substance to that."
Many parties involved in the digiAkkoord to 2030, including the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, umbrella organizations such as Bouwend Nederland, Techniek Nederland and Aedes, and companies and organizations active in the built environment, laid the foundation for the digiGO network in 2019.
Building on the strong collaborative base that now exists with digiGO, the digiDeal to 2030 is a clear new step in taking advantage of digitization opportunities faster. In digiDeals, companies, knowledge institutions and governments work closely together in concrete projects and unlock knowledge, experience and our network to realize them.
Wouter van Daal, booster for the digiDeals: "We are signing several digiDeals, including on federative data sharing, use of digital twins and collaboration with other industries. The energy of today will be converted from digiGO into even more digiDeals in the coming period."
The entire text of the digiDeal to 2030 can be downloaded from the digiGO website: New parties can still sign up there as co-signatories or if they would like to propose a digiDeal.
