Liemar user Constructiebedrijf De Vries has won the OOM Award 2023 - region Midden- en Oost-Brabant, in the election of the most active (metal) learning companies of the Netherlands! Reason for us to pay a visit and deliver a festive cake.
Constructiebedrijf De Vries consciously chooses to make an active contribution to maintaining and building up engineering and steel construction in the Netherlands. Naturally, we like to put them in the limelight for this. Femke, our consultant: 'We see and notice that this is very important at De Vries, they are always working on it. Trainees also contributed to the implementation and set-up of LiemarX. They did much of the work required. That is super if you can and are allowed to do that during your training.
Annette de Vries: "We even anticipated this with the timing of going live, so that we only had to teach the students to use one system. Now that the system is in place, we are also learning to use it better and better together. Each time we learn more and things get better and easier.'
Project manager Martijn Kanters was once a trainee at Constructiebedrijf De Vries and now trains trainees himself as a practical trainer. We want to give everyone the opportunity to grow. That is very important for our company. It helps us recruit new staff and good professionals with whom we can work for years to come. In addition, as a practical trainer, it just gives me a good feeling when I see my colleagues make progress. So we are very happy with the OOM Award: it's recognition for what we do here'.
Nominations for the OOM Awards are determined on the basis of the number of in-service training activities carried out by the company's employees, the number of traineeships supervised, the number of internships offered, the extent to which learning takes place on the job, and the employer's encouragement for this. After the nomination, a professional jury visits all nominated companies. This jury then makes a final assessment. The winner is announced during a meeting of the Koninklijke Metaalunie in the relevant district.
According to the jury report, all nominated companies put above-average effort into training. In the end the choice fell on Constructiebedrijf De Vries. Partly because of their continuous focus on personal development. Their starting point is the employee and what suits him or her. You can easily change direction within the company if you want to. And trainees are given every confidence and responsibility. That pays off for both company and trainee'.
The OOM Award is an initiative of OOM, the training consultancy of the social partners in metalworking. The common goal is to raise craftsmanship in the sector to a higher level. More than 14,000 companies with almost 160,000 employees are affiliated with OOM. The directors of OOM come from Koninklijke Metaalunie, FNV Metaal, CNV Vakmensen and De Unie.
