Indeed, as of February 1, Erwin and Nicole Ruiter have become owners of an equipment rental company. "In one fell swoop there are 50,000 items here, from loose spindles to large frames for PAL 30 towers. The name of the new company is Ruiter Rental BV. The rental business is already running."
BSE betonwerken BV has existed since 1975 and two years ago came into the hands of the founder's son. Today, the company specializes in the pouring of concrete foundations, walls and floors, the assembly of floor systems and (prefab) concrete structures and all combinations thereof. Given the growing customer base, this is going forward. "We noticed that contractors did like it if we could also offer equipment rental as part of our overall package," Nicole Ruiter explains. "Large contractors have their own equipment service. Medium and smaller contractors often don't have the space for that and it's also labor intensive. And for structural work, in which we operate, you often only need outriggers or PAL towers for a short time. We can now completely unburden the contractor in that regard as well."
"You can think of it as an extension of what we were already doing," says Jan Willem Schlahmilch, who will act as business manager. "In doing so, we not only take care of order processing and delivery to the construction site. For each job, we can also calculate for the customer what is needed for each specific situation. For this, we are supported by an external structural engineering firm. And if required, we also provide on-site assembly and disassembly. Service is of paramount importance to us. The same applies to transparency in service. We provide the customer with clear information about what they are renting, at what price and on what terms. That is something many rental companies still sometimes fall short of."
Then the question of what Ruiter Rental BV has to offer. Schlahmilch: "On the one hand, these are the widely used BM screw props, heavy-duty props that can carry up to 5 kilonewtons and H20 heavy-duty props that can hold 200 kN per punch. On the other hand, we rent out PAL towers. These tower scaffolds are very user-friendly, have more load capacity and use less space. With one PAL tower you can replace four outriggers and that means much more freedom of movement on the construction site. We're glad we were able to buy a lot of these. And the great thing is that, in addition to PAL 20, we can also supply PAL 30 towers for very high loads when building viaducts, for example. We are now unique in the Netherlands in this. We will not rent out these tower scaffolds on a weekly basis, but we do have them!"
In fact, Ruiter Rental BV had a flying start. Since day one, equipment has been deployed on various works. Ruiter: "In Amsterdam, for example, at Kavel 8, a building with 64 apartments that is being built opposite the Volkskrant office on a postage stamp by Ten Brinke. And in the meantime we are still working on the start-up of the company and the inventory of equipment. The great thing is that with the takeover we also gained a customer base. From our own regular customers I was already hearing, "Hey, do you do that too?"
So I think we are on the right track. Our website www.ruiterrental.nl is live."
