From engineering to assembly

Lots of expertise in one group

The Willems Boven-Leeuwen group once began as a construction company. By now, the company consists of several parts, including Willems Staal, Willems Anker, Willems Jachtbouw and Willems Piping & Equipment. These parts of the group work independently, but also often together. "That makes us unique," says commercial manager Marcel van der Wielen. "We stand out because we can do the entire process from engineering to assembly ourselves."

Willems Staal specializes in all kinds of structures in steel. "We make smart sustainable projects and prefer to be involved in the preliminary phase. We can come up with the right solutions for every issue. For example, we are currently working on a renovation project in Nijmegen. On the NYMA site, an old factory is being completely fitted with a new steel structure, while the old part also remains standing. In this way, the structure regains support. We are proud that the first phase was completed in early October; it looks sleek."

That Willems thinks in terms of solutions is evidenced, among other things, by the creation of Willems Anchor. "Our founder Jan Willems was looking for an elegant and practical solution to ensure the stability of structures," says Van der Wielen. "We therefore developed a patented adjustable wind brace. This is a unique product that always fits, looks slim and can absorb high forces."

In addition to constructions in steel, Willems also specializes in stainless steel and aluminum. Among other things, this is used for the construction of hulls for luxury yachts, under the wing of Willems Jachtbouw. "Around 60 people work here out of the 120 staff employed by Willems Boven-Leeuwen. So a big part of our total business." Where necessary, Willems combines the various areas of expertise. "At the moment, our Willems Staal and Willems Piping & Equipment departments are working together on an Aspen project in Oss. Together they are realizing completely pre-assembled pipe bridges. That we can do this, and switch quickly, is a particular strength of our company."
