JP Safety Award for Visscher
Richard Quist (business manager) and Nick Visscher (owner) of Visscher Demolition and Asbestos Removal, receive the award from Bart van Lunteren (finance director J.P van Eesteren).

JP Safety Award for Visscher

The JP Safety Award for Safest Construction Partner, awarded annually by construction company J.P. van Eesteren, goes this time to Visscher Demolition and Asbestos Removal. The company from Wormerveer says through company manager Richard Quist to be super proud with the recognition. "The power lies in the repetition."

After Terberg Totaal Installaties, Vink Aannemingsmaatschappij and facade builder Vorsselmans, Visscher is the fourth winner of the award, which is presented to draw extra attention to safety on construction sites. The winner was determined on the basis of the safety performance delivered, the NEN Safety Culture Ladder certification and through nominations and votes by employees of J.P. van Eesteren.

Toolbox and workplace inspections

"Very nice that our approach to safety is recognized and acknowledged," Quist said. "We put a lot of time into it. That already starts with extensive checks of documents with the request for tender and a demolition safety plan and specific risk assessment with the tender. Most importantly, however, we continuously draw attention to it on the construction sites. Through a monthly toolbox for all our employees, but also through regular workplace inspections. Every company starts fanatically with its safety policy. The challenge, however, is to keep repeating it. Therein lies the power. Keeping everyone involved. Only then do you cultivate a culture of safety."

The JP Safety Award is one of the ways in which J.P. van Eesteren rewards construction partners for the attention they pay to working safely. "We naturally take the lead in this ourselves," explains Bart van Lunteren, financial director at the TBI company and ultimately responsible for safety.

"For example, we have been certified on step 4 of the NEN Safety Culture Ladder since the end of 2021. Partly based on the agreements in the Governance Code Safety in Construction, we expect the entire chain to make an effort to raise safety awareness and improve employee behavior on the shop floor."

Quiet and structured

"Visscher is a committed construction partner and certified on step 3 of the NEN Safety Culture Ladder. That in itself is special for companies in the demolition industry," Van Lunteren continued. "But even more important is that Visscher's people work in a calm and structured manner and are constructive in their discussions about safety on the construction site."

"With this award, we want to promote safety awareness throughout the industry. Order and cleanliness while working are crucial in this regard. The incidents that still occur often fall short of that. We should all want to get rid of that."
