MES 2023: over 100 experts in sustainable materials and surface techniques on 1 day

MES 2023: over 100 experts in sustainable materials and surface techniques on 1 day

Sustainability is no longer a choice: scarcity of raw materials, but also climate and energy transition make investment in sustainable materials and surface techniques essential. To help the industry on its way and offer insight into possible solutions and opportunities, Mikrocentrum, Vereniging ION and VOM Belgium organize for the second time the knowledge and networking event Materials+Eurofinish+Surface (MES). MES 2023 will take place on June 15 at NH Koningshof in Veldhoven.

MES 2023 offers visitors answers to current themes around materials, analytical techniques, joining techniques, product development and surface techniques, in order to achieve a good and sustainable end product together. In addition, MES 2023 connects manufacturing companies, suppliers, knowledge institutions and governments to promote crossovers between sectors and realize collaborations in the value chain.

Response to current issues

The informal networking event MES 2023 is built around 6 main themes:

  • To measure is to know
  • Energy and environmental management
  • Longevity and quality
  • Materials and coatings of the future
  • Carefree outsourcing
  • Efficient and responsible production

Visitors can delve into these topics during the lectures in the varied conference program, at more than one hundred Dutch and Belgian exhibitors and at the inspiring demo plaza.

Comprehensive conference program

This year's congress consists of eleven lectures and a number of Tech Talks by exhibitors. For example, Marcel van Wonderen, Master Engineer Process Equipment & Materials Development at KLM Engineering & Maintenance, speaks about innovative maintenance techniques in aviation. Timothy Van Caelenberghe, Technical Sales Advisor at Fluves, will give his talk on preventing corrosion under insulation using fiberglass detection technology.

That one can fill vacancies oneself, without a recruitment agency, will be discussed in the lecture "Personnel can be found" by Roy Verduyn, Director at Omwerven. And what about the challenges in surface treatment of new surfaces such as 3D printed metals (MAM)? This is what Dr. Reynier I. Revilla, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Free University of Brussels (VUB), is talking about. This is just a sampling of a diverse range of lectures.

Tech Cafe

During MES 2023, a special edition of the Techcafé (an initiative of Mikrocentrum and DSPE) will take place with the theme: materials in construction. This meeting lasts from 16-17 hours and deals with the use of different materials in high-tech and the influence of the choice of materials on the development of a product or part: is enough consideration given to the various options available? And is the engineer well aware of the opportunities that special (or not special) materials offer? Afterwards, there is plenty of opportunity for networking.

Benefits of MES participation

MES takes place in the beating heart of the manufacturing industry: Veldhoven. The location attracts a stream of interesting visitors from renowned high-tech and manufacturing companies from the region. De Koningshof is located a stone's throw from the Belgian border, close to the E34/A67 exit. The trade fair offers participants an efficient all-in formula, with a ready-made stand including catering and parking. For the surface treatment industry, it is a low-threshold way to contribute to a greener world.
