As a basis for designing new buildings, the calculation rules of the Eurocodes for structural safety are used. This ensures the required safety of building structures. But it is also important that no unnecessary additional safety features are built in, resulting in an uneconomical design. The bearing capacity calculation for pile foundations uses the regulations of NEN 9997-1 (Eurocode 7 with national annex). These include safe values for pile factors.
To better determine the bearing capacity of piles, test loads are increasingly taking place. Based on the pile class factors found from the test loads, designs can be optimized. This often leads to lower costs because designs can be designed with values measured in situ.
NEN has developed the 'NEN NCS 7201 - Self-declaration' developed so that one can prove, that these test loads were carried out in a qualitative way according to NPR 7201.
NPR 7201 describes rules for the execution, elaboration and interpretation of test loads on axially loaded foundation piles. By working according to NPR 7201, the calculation parameters are guaranteed. The registration of the "NEN NCS 7201 - Self Declaration" makes these design parameters accessible to the entire geotechnical market.
