The Concrete Mortar sector of Betonhuis comes with a new brochure on monolithic floors. All the knowledge on how to prepare, process and execute these floors is in one issue, supported by two digital animations.
A monolithic floor is a concrete floor with a special, monolithic finish. This finish creates a smooth and hard surface. No finishing coat or screed needs to be applied and the concrete floor and floor surface thus form a single unit. The concrete thus lasts a long time, can be heavily loaded and is easy to clean. Wilfred Oosterling, Building Technology Advisor at Betonhuis: "Concrete is used for sustainable and efficient construction. It distinguishes itself through constant innovation. This innovation is due to the years of knowledge accumulated by the affiliated concrete mortar plants. For longevity and high quality, knowledge and craftsmanship on the construction site is a prerequisite. This is why we have completely updated the brochure."
The brochure is intended primarily for work planners, landfill crews of flooring companies and executives. In addition, the brochure was developed for education. Oosterling states that 60,000 people are needed throughout the construction industry in the coming years. Through many training programs, construction is filling these jobs. "Almost three-quarters of the total mass in construction is concrete. That is why it is so important to spread current knowledge among educators and get people excited about the material and its proper processing."
The guide covers the topics of longevity, circularity and sustainability of poured monolith floors. But it also describes ordering, transporting and handling concrete. The brochure gives indications for design and sustainable material choices. The knowledge of the Branchevergeniging Betonpomp Bedrijven is also added. Oosterling: "Much practical information about concrete pouring is not available or very fragmented for small and medium-sized contractors in the B&U and GWW sectors. We see that among clients the demand for sustainable circular use of materials is increasing. Our member companies can mean a lot in this."
Copies may be obtained free of charge from Concrete House ([email protected]) or at a concrete mortar plant affiliated with Betonhuis. At betonhuis.nl/monolithfloor, the brochure is available for free download as well as the two supporting animations.
