Cutting or grinding work in concrete, stone or tiles generates a lot of dust. This makes for a dirty construction site, is harmful to health and is also responsible for additional wear on the grinding wheel and motor. If the arm also becomes heavy with extended use, it is anything but pleasant - because the machines usually weigh about 8 kilograms. Metabo's solution: the lightweight and powerful diamond grinder TEPB 19-180 RT CED with strong 180-millimeter diameter cut-off wheel and dust extraction hood. "Considering its weight of only 3.5 kg, application range and performance of the TEPB 19-180 RT CED are unique. And thanks to the open design of the dust extraction hood, the user has a clear view of the cutting line," said Jörg Stoschus, chief of the competence center construction and renovation at Metabo.
With an output of 1,900 watts, the TEPB 19-180 RT CED effortlessly grinds up to 55 mm deep cuts in mineral building materials. Only the large and also new grinder TE 24-230 MVT CED with a disc diameter of 230 mm cuts even deeper. Compared to conventional diamond grinders, however, the TEPB 19-180 RT CED weighs only half as much: weighing just 3.5 kg incl. extractor, it is the absolute number one in the market. "There is no comparable system so far," according to Stoschus. Because the diamond cutter is particularly light and with the slim handle is secure in the hand, the user retains full control of his/her machine in any situation.
The powerful UP-T diamond grinding wheel included in the CED 180 set has a particularly high capacity compared to a conventional cut-off wheel; it is not for nothing that the "T" stands for "Turbo". Also with regard to safety functions, the TEPB 19-180 RT CED meets the toughest standards: with dead-man's switch, S-automatic safety clutch and quick disc stop, users are on the safe side in critical situations.
The TE 24-230 MVT CED diamond cutter with the 2,400-watt Marathon motor is even better suited for even faster and up to 60 mm deep dry cutting cuts - e.g., for cutting terrace slabs to size. For particularly precise guidance, the machine has a metal base plate with rollers. "That is ideal for precise horizontal cuts in flat material," says Jörg Stoschus.
The universal use diamond grinder W 12-25 HD Set CED Plus with extraction hood, which can be mounted without the use of tools, is the third in the line of powerful diamond grinders from Metabo. With a sliding cut and plunge cut function, the compact, 1,250-watt grinder reliably performs cuts up to 27 millimeters deep. Thanks to the metal base plate with rollers, long, straight cuts can be made accurately, e.g. to grind tiles or cable ducts. For freehand grinding, the base plate can be easily removed.
The dust extraction hoods CED 180 and CED 230 are made of robust die-cast aluminum. The cut-off wheel can be changed through the opening if necessary, no need to remove the hood first. While working, the dust is discharged through the connected, four-meter-long antistatic hose directly to the all-purpose vacuum cleaner - e.g. to the ASR 35 M ACP all-purpose vacuum cleaner, which, thanks to the M-class filters, are optimally suited to concrete and stone dust on construction sites.
For conventional angle grinders with a disc diameter of 125 millimeters, the exhaust hood CED 125 Clip is the simplest solution for clean work. The hood made of strong plastic can be plugged onto the protective hood of the angle grinder without the help of tools and weighs only 100 grams. The CED 125 Clip can be combined with all Metabo "made in Germany" angle grinders from 2008 onwards with 125 mm disc.
