In doing so, the company once again confirms that it has everything it needs in-house to complete construction projects efficiently, sustainably and in a customized manner. "We draw the complete picture and are able to provide the complete concrete shell from a single source," says project manager Inge van de Weerd on behalf of Preco. "In doing so, we assist from the design and production according to KOMO to the just-in-time delivery and assembly of the required precast concrete elements on site."

Through a varied and extensive range of services and products, Preco stands for total relief in the field of precast concrete. The range of services includes 3D engineering, delivery and assembly, while the extensive product range includes a variety of precast solutions. From walls, columns and beams to stairs and landing slabs, balcony and gallery slabs, hollow-core slabs, T-docks and specials. And what's also great: all products are manufactured in our own factory with a keen eye for sustainability. For example, Preco minimizes CO2 emissions, in part by adding a minimum amount of cement to the concrete mixtures. Furthermore, the company is highly committed to smart production processes, greatly reduced energy consumption and the continuous renewal and optimization of internal processes.

Diverse and sustainable

Preco's qualities and versatility are perfectly expressed during the De Ananas new construction project in Leiden. "This involves the construction of a 374-apartment complex to be realized in three phases on the former auction grounds on Lammenschansweg near Leiden's bustling city center," Van de Weerd unfolds of the project. "When the construction of the Arvensis, Bromelia I, Bromelia II and Viridis plan sections is a reality in 2022, De Ananas will be a fantastic and at the same time sustainably tinted place to live and relax." For example, the heart of De Ananas will feature a central courtyard garden and residents will soon be able to use special amenities, including catering, shopping and parking facilities. But De Ananas also scores on the sustainability front. All homes will be built without gas and equipped with a heat pump system for cooling and heating. Solar panels will be installed on the roof.

Challenge

The precast concrete components required for De Ananas will not only be produced by Preco, but the design and transport to downtown Leiden are also on the total supplier's plate. Van de Weerd explains, "In May 2020, we were awarded the contract to supply various precast products in three separate phases through 2022. This involves a total of 321 balcony slabs, 80 gallery slabs, 75 brackets and 3,000 square meters of wall elements for the elevator core and rooftop. A job that is special not only because of its size, it is also a challenge to execute the deliveries just-in-time within quite a long time frame. And that has everything to do with the fact that this is a large project, realized on a relatively small land area. But we're going to take that bump too, we've been entrusted with that."
