A leading provider of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, Riwal recently announced that it will make a significant investment of 10 million euros in its Dutch rental fleet. This investment includes the purchase of 500 new machines, including 200 electric scissor lifts with a working height of 7.80 meters. The investments are intended, among other things, to further electrify the construction industry and contribute to making working at height even more sustainable. Below we zoom in on the expectations of the market in 2023, the major projects Riwal is involved in and the company's sustainability goals.
We see an increasing demand for electric machines in 2023, this is due both to new laws and regulations and sustainable ambitions among us and our customers. This applies not only to small electric scissor lifts, but also to rough terrain scissors, such as JLG's new series of ERT scissor lifts and the JLG EC600 telescopic boom lift with 20 meters working height. Riwal is investing heavily to meet this growing demand.
Riwal responds to the needs of large construction projects with its Key Project Services department. This department is focused on unburdening clients and offers customized solutions for projects of any size. Riwal is currently involved in several large projects, including the construction of wind farms, several data centers, the expansion of Schiphol Airport and a large chip manufacturer.
Sustainability is an important pillar in the Lifting Sustainability strategy of Riwal. Based on this conviction, Riwal has committed itself to various sustainability goals of the United Nations (UN). Not only to operate more sustainably itself but also precisely to support its customers as best as possible in their sustainability ambitions. To ensure this, Riwal has joined Ecovadis, the world's best-known independent platform that helps companies measure and improve their sustainability performance.
Besides the investment in electric scissor lifts, Riwal has also ordered new rigid telehandlers with a capacity of 2.5 tons and several brand new Manitou electric rotary telehandlers with a working height of 26 meters and a capacity of 6 tons. These investments will contribute to the further electrification of the construction industry and ensure a green chain.
