Van Nieuwpoort Prefab Beton Kampen received the golden CSC certificate from Pleun Kleinveld, auditor Kiwa, on Wednesday, July 12. The CSC hallmark is a recognition of our sustainable ambitions. Dick van Gelder, Manager Operations, and Edo Peet, Manager Sustainability accepted the congratulations and the certificate.
At the Prefab Beton plant in Kampen, wide slab floors and ribcasette floors, among others, are produced in a sustainable way. The CSC pathway aims to promote and continuously improve the sustainable performance of construction raw materials and concrete. With this CSC hallmark, we demonstrate to our customers that we are socially responsible and remain committed to using sustainable production processes and materials. Van Nieuwpoort Prefab Beton Kampen stands out in particular because we collect rainwater in basins and use it to make our concrete mortar. This helps against dehydration. Moreover, we use heat pumps i.c.m. solar collectors on the roof for a gasless drying room.
CSC contributes to the improvement of the work processes, the sustainability of the products and on environmentally and cost conscious behavior of management and employees. Van Nieuwpoort Prefab Beton breaks down its 'own concrete waste' into concrete granulate and this is used as secondary aggregate for the products. We work with use of primary and secondary raw materials. The goal is to produce 100% waste-free.
In addition, the plant is equipped with numerous sustainable and energy-saving measures. For example, the energy required by the company for the production of wide slab floors is sustainably generated throughout the year by energy piles in the foundation, along with an energy roof and heat pumps. In the 2e half of 2023, the drying room of the ribcage floors will also be gas-free heated by a combination of heat pumps and heat from the river IJssel. Of course with green electricity from Dutch wind energy. All these measures yield significant savings in the CO2 footprint. To put sustainability of for example transport into practice, cooperation with (chain) partners is essential for us. A large proportion of CO2 emissions are caused by logistics to and from the construction site. We are working towards green logistics solutions, together with our partners.
