Which construction projects will win a BIM Award this year? Software vendor Construsoft, as it does every year, is hosting the largest BIM competition for users of Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect. From commercial and small-scale projects to industrial and infrastructure projects; the wide range of entries in this competition demonstrates the limitless possibilities of 3D BIM technology. For companies that enter, participation means promotion of their project throughout the year. Submissions are welcome now. The deadline for submissions is April 25.
"We often find that many great stories stick with the companies, when in fact they should be proud of what they realize," says Jaap van Kempen, Construsoft marketer and project manager of the competition. "That is why we think it is great that through the Construsoft BIM Awards we can put participants in the spotlight and at the same time show what is being built today with 3D BIM software." Users of Tekla Structures and Trimble Connect can share their success stories with thousands of industry peers through this competition.
A great advantage for entrants is that all participating projects and companies are promoted by Construsoft throughout the year. Jeroen Dewever, who works at Stadsbader and has been a participant in the BIM Awards for several years, confirms this: "Participating in this competition is a nice recognition for our engineering firm. Moreover, it is a unique opportunity to put your company in the spotlight."
In the BIM competition, which takes place in seven categories, the public and an expert and independent professional jury choose the final winners. Johrans de Hond, on behalf of VKP has been active in the competition for a few years, "The most important thing for us is the feedback from the jury in the form of a jury report, which we find very pleasant and instructive. With this feedback we can work on the further development of our company. And of course the media attention is nice."
The quality of submissions has risen considerably in recent years, thanks in part to the use of collaboration platform Trimble Connect. Van Kempen: "Project parties are increasingly able to realize buildings together within complex structures in a smart way. Through automation and digitization, the BIM process is becoming better and more efficient. Every year I am surprised again by the constructions that our clients make and the way they cooperate and optimize processes within the projects. This is how the most innovative solutions and beautiful structures come about." And these don't even have to be very large projects. Last year, for example, Barli won a Construsoft BIM Award for a movable wooden apartment.
After a record 44 projects last year, Construsoft expects many applications again this year. Through the website www.construsoftbimawards.nl interested parties can submit their project(s) until April 25. Those who submit their project now can count on extra promotion.
Van Kempen offers a golden tip in advance: "The jury will judge the entries on a number of criteria: the use of BIM, the manufacturability of the project, sustainability and the wow factor. Don't forget to include these factors in the project description!"
